Writer's note: was having writer's block these past few days, that's why i wasn't able to post any blogs at all.. so now, i'm just going to write my reflection coz i'm still having a slight writer's block.. couldn't write anything at all..
Human beings are never contented. It's funny how people want to be contented with their lives but they still long for something more. We are always unsatisfied with what we have, it is innate in us to have this characteristic, everyone has it. We always want something more, something we don't have. But wanting what we don't have is not bad at all, it is what we call dreams and ambitions in life. We can never really say that we are not contented with what we have if we still want to achieve something that we don't have, somehow we are contented but we still long for more. Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, it is the realization of how much you already have. If we realize what we have, and feel happy about it, then we are contented. But the irony of it all is that we, as human beings, can never really be contented on what we have, no matter how hard we try.
Many times in my life I was wondering why I feel so unhappy, why I feel that there's something lacking in my life. Then I realized, I held on to the past too long and I did not embrace the new chance of happiness that might come. Or what's worse, it had already came to me and I was too busy holding on to the past to even notice it. When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us. One thing i realized is that when one door closes, another opens. That is how life is. We should not hold on too long or we'll miss the opportunities that may come. Embrace what we have in the present, don't think of the past or even of the future. We should learn from the past, enjoy the present and hope for the future because no one knows what the future holds for us. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. Live what you have right now, savor every moment of it, don't hold back, don't hesitate. Give it the best you can. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives." So appreciate what we have right now, relish every second and appreciate all the things that come. Don't be a fool to let go of a chance of happiness. Maybe someday we'll realize that something that's been missing in our lives is right in front of us, it was beside us all along. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
